The Operations Team is a matrix organization in Beyond Meat dedicated to creating food products leading the gold standard in plant-based proteins. They are looking for an outstanding individual to join the team in Devault, Pennsylvania as an Environmental, Health, and Safety Manager.
The EHS Manager is responsible for creating, implementing, and executing Employee Health and Safety processes and programs that ensure a safe work environment for all employees and contractors. They will work closely with all departments in providing training, coordinating safety programs, and conducting EHS assessments / audits in a Food Manufacturing environment. This role will ensure the manufacturing facility site and reports comply with all local, state, and federal regulations. This role will also lead all HSI training and management of Workers Compensation for DEPA Team Members.

TASKS, DUTIES, & GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Create, implement, and manage programs associated with Employee Health and Safety
  • Leads HSI training for Plant Team Members – tracks and reports compliance training of Team Members
  • Reviews company mandated and regulatory records for completion, accuracy, and adherence to internal processes
  • Manages our Workers Comp program and partners with the Insurance company to help manage cases
  • Works as part of the site leadership team on proactively improving the EHS Department and production facility
  • Lead internal safety and compliance audits, follow-up with corrective actions to close audit findings
  • Manage and communicate company expectations and policies to third party contractors
  • Responsible for participating in the development of any pandemic or disaster response plans, implementation, and monitoring for compliance
  • Responsible for developing content and implementing safety trainings for employees, contractors, and visitors
  • Develop compliance procedures, plans, permits, and reports
  • Build strong collaborative and communicative relationships with Leadership and Team members within all departments
  • Coordinate employee PPE programs
  • Lead incident investigations and contribute toward identifying and implementing root cause countermeasures
  • Conduct job safety analysis to proactively identify potential hazards and implement countermeasures
  • Manage external vendors in support of projects and programs such as CPR training, ergonomic assessments, and first aid
  • Provide technical assistance on EHS compliance and EHS projects on a range of areas such as Machine Guarding, Equipment Safety, Lock Out Tag Out, Hazardous Materials, Emergency Preparedness and Response, EHS auditing, and more
  • Communicate and/or coordinate with plant management
  • Build on the safety program needs
  • Adhere to all facility policies concerning safety, security, and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs)
  • Performs other duties, as assigned, and follows through on requests in a timely manner

QUALIFICATIONS - Education, Technical Skills, and/or Previous Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Health and Safety, Occupational Health and Safety or Related Field, and/or an equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience may be considered
  • 5+ years of experience working in an EHS role in a Food/Manufacturing Environment.
  • 3+ years of leadership experience with training and SOP development
  • Experience with OSHA, Hazardous Waste Management, Behavioral Based Safety Programs
  • Thorough knowledge of OSHA and EPA requirements
  • Leadership skills, focused on results, employee engagement, decision making, and teamwork.
  • Ability to quantitatively review technical procedures and representative regulations
  • Bi-lingual in Spanish is a plus, not a requirement
  • Strong analytical, strategic, and critical thinking skills
  • Excellent verbal/written communication skills and attention to detail, with the ability to efficiently organize information, analyze large datasets, and present data in a clear and impactful manner
  • High-level ability to build strong relationships and influence technical, business, and operational decisions
  • Strong multitasking skills, with the ability to work on multiple projects and adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced, high-growth environment

WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • In-office five (5) days per week and able to work flexible shifts as required based on position needs. Occasional weekends and/or worked holidays will also be required based on company needs.
  • Warehouse and production manufacturing environment that includes both tempered and ambient areas specifically requiring a tolerance for consistent cold work environments (-10˚ to 40˚ F), high worker traffic, loud noises, odors, dust, and varying room temperatures.

  • Position requires the ability to stand or sit for prolonged periods, step, balance, crouch, stoop, kneel, squat, bend, occasionally lifting up to 50 lbs., reach above shoulders, or as needed to complete tasks.
  • Must be able to occasionally climb stairs or a ladder to complete tasks.
  • Travel to the different facilities associated with the company will be required.
