A Brief Overview
Provides safe transport of parents and children to and from locations as needed.

Ensures that the vehicle is safe to drive. Ensures maintenance and safety are continuously monitored and necessary repairs completed. Purchase and transport of program supplies and equipment as requested. May be requested to assist in providing clerical activities.

What you will do

  • Provides safe transport to passengers.
  • Provides daily transportation services to passengers, as well as supervise passengers being transported.
  • Picks up and drops off only at/to authorized and designated drop-off sites.
  • Installs and removes age-appropriate car seats as needed.
  • Provides regular communication to a relevant team member on any behavioral issues which may have occurred with the child and/or the family during transport.
  • Reports any malfunctioning of the vehicle and maintains service of the vehicle (e.g. takes vehicle for maintenance and repairs).
  • Responsible for safety equipment on the vehicles such as seat belts, fire extinguisher, and first aid kit, etc.
  • Notifies the relevant team member of inclement weather or potentially hazardous driving conditions.
  • Maintains all necessary paperwork for the vehicles and for the people who are transported.
  • Shops for and/or picks-up and distributes program supplies, including food and snacks.
  • Maintains a safe therapeutic and hazard free environment.
  • Provides close supervision to passengers, especially patients, during transportation.
  • Demonstrates and utilizes clearly delineated series of non-violent crisis intervention strategies to facilitate adaptive functioning of patients.
  • Only as a last resort, when other less restrictive measures have failed to maintain safety, utilizes Non-violent Physical Crisis Intervention.
  • Under close supervision, provides ongoing assessment of passengers when they require a restrictive procedure.

Education Qualifications

  • High School Diploma / GED Required

Experience Qualifications

  • At least one (1) year of professional transportation or passenger driving related experience Preferred
  • At least one (1) year of experience with children who have special health care or behavioral needs Preferred
  • Experience navigating the Philadelphia area and surrounding counties preferred.
  • Working with families with infants/small children preferred.

Skills and Abilities

  • Familiarity with operating a personal computer (Windows)
  • Ability to operate a company vehicle and/or be insured on a CHOP policy

Licenses and Certifications

  • Driver's License - Department of Motor Vehicles - upon hire - Required
  • Certification in Nonviolent Crisis Intervention - Crisis Prevention Institute - within 3 months - Required
  • Child Passenger Safety Technician (CPST) - Safe Kids Worldwide - within 3 months - Required
