What to Expect
The Tesla Raw Materials team is looking for an experienced and strongly motivated Supply Chain Manager (SCM). The position is an individual contributor for the carbon steel commodity and the successful candidate will be responsible for developing and executing the strategy for the commodity. The SCM is responsible for Tier 2 and Tier 3 relationships and as such be the main driver of the sourcing, negotiating and executing processes. The SCM will work closely with the Tier 1 SCMs, Engineering, Finance, Legal, Planners and Technical Program Managers to ensure that sourcing requirements are met, contracts are set-up in a timely manner, cost savings opportunities are aggressively pursued and that any eventual risk to the supply chain is communicated and mitigated in time.
What You’ll Do
  • Manage the carbon steel commodity in North America for all sustaining and new programs
  • Address all areas of category management including category business plans, market conditions, technology roadmaps, cost modeling, and sourcing strategies
  • Monitor global industry trends, track technology roadmaps, and actively partner with the Design teams to identify/mitigate supply and demand challenges
  • Owner of commodity RFQ's - ensuring all commercial terms are agreed and documented. Ensures Non-Disclosure Agreements, General Terms & Conditions, and other related contracts are negotiated and appropriately completed before business is initiated
  • Manage respective supplier relationships and performance, including but not limited to dispute resolution, supplier scorecards, and periodic business reviews
  • Communicate key supply, cost, and/or quality issues with management teams Develop corrective action plans to mitigate identified risks
  • Continuously drive efforts for cost reduction opportunities and strategical improvements that challenge the status quo
What You’ll Bring
  • Degree in Business or Engineering and/or equivalent experience or evidence of exceptional ability
  • 5+ years of hands-on procurement or supply chain management experience in a fast-paced and diverse environment, preferably with experience in metal commodity management
  • Demonstrated ability to manage short deadlines and take decisions with limited information
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills with the ability to work across multiple teams and their leadership in a collaborative team environment
  • Experience managing stakeholders in a cross-functional setting with a natural drive for negotiations and demonstrated record of success
